Vicky Pattison has shared her reasons for filming Channel 4's new documentary My Deepfake Sex Tape, defending her decision to leak her own deepfaked sex tape. The former Geordie Shore star appeared on Lorraine Kelly to chat about the series, which starts tonight on Channel 4, and choked up in the emotional interview while chatting to the TV presenter.
After Lorraine pointed out that the documentary has "already caused a lot of controversy" with many people "judging" Vicky without watching it, Vicky replied: "Let me just say, I completely understand that this has been a divisive way to go about sharing the information about fake AI and to try and spread awareness. We've been loud and we've been deliberate and I know that it has ruffled some feathers.
"Anybody who feels any type of way about it, I completely understand the feelings, that they're valid and I'm not trying to trivialise them.". She added that last year, there were over double the amount of deepfake porn videos on the internet than there were in 2022. "There's over 300 of these new apps now - within a month of one of them launching, 600,000 nice normal women had their pictures deepfaked," she said.
Speaking about the documentary featuring a porn video of Vicky that has been deepfaked for the series, Lorraine said: "The content, obviously we can't show it. In the documentary, it's blurred - but we are not just talking about somebody you see in the movies, people having sex in films, that happens a lot. This is really hardcore. It is ghastly.".
