Former Love Island contestant Steve-O allegedly internally smuggled drugs into the villa when he appeared on the reality dating show in 2006. The bold claim was made by the late Paul Danan, who was on the ITV series alongside Stacey Solomon's Jackass star ex Steve-O, real name Stephen Gilchrist Glover. Former Hollyoaks actor Paul, who tragically passed away last month at the age of 46, made the allegations in his final interview on the Outlet Ten Discussions Podcast.

Speaking about his and Steve-O's stint on Love Island, Paul sensationally disclosed: "They [producers] didn't search you or anything like that because we're not stupid. No one's gonna bring nothing on there. But guess who f***ing did?. "They got Steve O from Jackass, and he basically swallowed a load of f***ing whatever, and he was like s****ing it out!" Paul, who openly battled with substance abuse issues throughout his adulthood, revealed that Steve-O made a DIY bong by cutting off the top of an apple.

He added: "So there we are me and Steve-O just smoking away this apple, and you can hear 'Paul and Steve-O, can you come to the Beach Hut right now'. And they know they can't use any of it obviously, and he got chucked out. They were like, 'you can't do that, man.' You know, of course not!". The official line at the time was that Steve-O left the villa after falling out with some of the other Islanders, with ITV releasing a statement at the time. It read: "Steve-O became very emotional last night and again this morning, and was upsetting some of the other celebrities. We therefore agreed with him that he should go home. He has been great entertainment since he arrived on Monday, and we thank him for his contribution.".

The Mirror has contacted Steve-O's reps and ITV for comment on this story, the latter declined. Stunt performer Steve-O was in a brief relationship with Loose Women star and X Factor runner up Stacey Solomon almost ten years after his Love Island appearance. The unlikely match came about after they appeared on Channel 4 winter sports competition show The Jump in 2015. Despite Steve-O forming a bond with Stacey Solomon's children, who were still very young at the time, he 'ghosted' the presenter and their relationship fizzled out. Since then, Steve-O, who spoke in the past about his previous sex addiction, has opened about his habit of suddenly ending relationships with women.

Writing in his memoir, A Hard Kick in the Nuts, he said: "I lavished her with attention, I got what I wanted and then I broke it off. I'd become not only part of her life [but also] her kids' lives too. And then - poof - I was gone". Elsewhere, Steve-O explained: "I'd meet some woman, pour on the charm to convince her I really cared about her (which I invariably thought I did) sleep with her a few times, then lose interest and ghost." Speaking about his split with mum-of-five Stacey, he admitted: "To this day, I still beat myself up about the way it went down".
