We are now appealing to the public for help and asking anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, or anyone who has information about what happened to come forward.
‘An investigation was immediately launched by detectives from Northumbria Police’s Safeguarding Department and the victim is currently being supported by specially-trained officers,’ the police said.
The victim was attacked early Sunday morning, around 2 am, near Pottery Lane by a ‘stocky, muscular’ man.
The suspect is described as around 6ft tall and white with a tanned complexion, who spoke with a strong Geordie accent and was wearing a dark hooded top.
