Manchester United's rivals believe the club are open to offers in January for Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford with PSR very much on the club's mind. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Old Trafford hierarchy are looking to ensure they control the balance sheet and their rivals anticipate United being more willing to cash in this month, rather than wait until the summer and push for exits ahead of financial deadlines.

June 30 is the final day of the 2024-25 accounts and, whilst all 20 clubs dodged any PSR punishments, the Manchester outfit remain on the cusp with financial losses giving them little margin for error, especially without Champions League income. The biggest profit maker is the sale of homegrown talents and that leaves Mainoo, Garnacho and Rashford as expensive assets they can offload. Interested parties believe now could be the time to strike with United's negotiating power reduced in the summer, reports the Telegraph.

Mainoo has not agreed a new deal at United since his breakout season with Chelsea among those tracking his situation. He currently earns £20,000-a-week but wants ten times that if he is to pen a new deal, which could prove problematic. Ruben Amorim underlined his desire to keep the club's best players, but was aware of the financial situation. "Our idea is always to keep the best players and the players we build for this club," he said last week. "But we know the position the club is in at the moment. We will see.".

Garnacho meanwhile refused to celebrate a goal earlier this season and United captain Bruno Fernandes admitted the winger felt some fans had “lost faith” in him. He is expected to be subject of offers from foreign clubs with Napoli among those credited with interest.
