Police have launched a manhunt after a man dragged a woman into a car and raped her. Met Police have issued an appeal following the terrifying incident which took place in Westminster in March 2022. The suspect allegedly pushed the woman into the car while she was walking along Bradiston Road in Maida Vale around 9pm.
The man reportedly drove the vehicle with the victim inside before sexually assaulting her. He was then said to have pushed her out of the car, which was described as a dark-coloured Audi A3, close to where he first targeted her. She alerted the police a few months later on June 14.
Police addressed the "horrifying ordeal" and commended the victim for her bravery in coming forward. She also contributed to building the E-fit of the suspect, who has been described as speaking with a Jamaican accent and thought to be in his late 30s. He is tall with short dreadlocks and has a distinctive scar on his face.
The image released shows a Black man with stubble wearing a grey jumper. Detective Constable, Leon Riley, from the Westminster policing team, said members of the public should contact the police without delay if they recognise the man. The police representative said: "We have been carrying out extensive enquiries since the incident and we continue to support the victim who, as far as possible, has been trying to live her life as normal since it happened.".
They added: "It was a horrifying ordeal for her and we thank her for supporting the investigation to trace the man responsible for assaulting her, and now helping us build an e-fit of the suspect. Women should be able to walk alone without fear and we are dedicated to protecting women and girls from predatory offenders such as this.".
