Aston Villa are considering a stunning late move for Manchester United want-away Marcus Rashford. Rashford, 27, hopes to leave United before transfer deadline day on Monday after confirming last month that he's ready for a 'new challenge'. Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim has omitted Rashford from his squad for the last 12 matches, making it clear that unless the England international's approach to training changes, he'll remain frozen out.

Villa want a new forward after striker Jhon Duran completed his €77million (£64.5m) mega-move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr. Emi Buendia has also joined German champions Bayer Leverkusen on loan. Unai Emery has personally requested the club enter talks over Rashford, with the Spaniard a big fan and of the belief that he can help Rashford rediscover his best form at Villa Park. Rashford's preference has been to join La Liga giants Barcelona or stay at United, so he'd likely need some convincing to join Villa. His wages are a sticking point, as Rashford currently earns £325,000 per week after signing a long-term contract following his 30-goal season in 2023, more than double Villa's top earner, and they'd need United to pick up some of the slack.

Ahead of United's 2-0 Europa League win against FCSB, Amorim said of Rashford: "Our team should be so much better with Rashford. But he has to change. If he changes, we are more than welcome to put in a talent like Rashford and we need it. "In this moment, I think it's really clear that we have to set some certain standards. We are waiting for Marcus, if he wants it really, really bad. You try to make it something personal but it's not personal, I have nothing against Marcus. I have to make the same rules for everybody and that for me it's so simple, it's always the same.

Should Aston Villa make a bid to sign Marcus Rashford? Have your say in the comments section. "The situation is the same for every player and the last time I talked about that in the last game my sentence was that I will not put any player that doesn't give the maximum. I didn't say I will not put Marcus Rashford so it's the same situation. When I feel that it's the right moment, I will put any player to play.

"We are a better team with Rashford and that is clear. He's a big talent but until the right moment I will not change my mind, that's all and it's always the same answer.". Villa have also been linked with a move to Chelsea forward Joao Felix. Meanwhile, the Villains have also rebuffed an offer from Arsenal to sign striker Ollie Watkins amid Duran's impending departure.
