Martin Lewis' MoneySavingExpert.com website has explained how to get free vouchers worth £165 at Amazon, M&S, Sainsbury's and more. The cashback is available to those who sign up for an American Express Gold credit card before January 14. New customers can currently get 30,000 bonus points if they sign up before this date - this is up from the usual 20,000 bonus points that is offered by Amex.
But in order to get this perk, you need to spend £3,000 or more in the first three months, and you must not have had an Amex card in the last two years. The Amex card also gives you one point for every pound you spend - so by the end of the three months, customers will have at least 3,000 points from spending £3,000, plus the 30,000 point bonus.
MSE says this is enough to be exchanged for £165 worth of vouchers at Amazon, Sainsbury's, M&S and more. You can also use the points to claim airline rewards, including 33,000 Avios for British Airways or Qatar, 33,000 Virgin points, 33,000 Etihad Guest miles, or 24,750 Emirates Skywards miles.
You could also use them to get hotel perks, such as 66,000 Hilton Honours points, 49,500 Marriott points or 99,000 Radisson points. Other benefits included with the Amex Gold card include four free airport lounge passes a year, worth around £50 each, and two £5 Deliveroo cashbacks a month.
But there are some things to be aware of. MSE notes that the Amex Gold card is free for the first year, but after this, there is a hefty £195 a year fee to keep this card. As this is a credit card, you also need to pay it off in full every month to avoid paying interest.
