Matthew Stafford's wife, Kelly, is unsure if the quarterback will continue playing after his Rams fell to the Eagles on Sunday night in the divisional round. The quarterback, 36, was non-committal regarding his future after the 28-22 loss, and told reporters he would 'take some time to think about it.'.
A day later, Kelly further fueled speculation that her husband could retire as she paid tribute to him on Instagram. 'Aren't enough words to express how proud I am,' she said. 'I joke about us being old and tired but honestly I could never get tired of watching you out there or watching our girls cheer for their daddy. I'm wondering if this is the end or not... guess we will find out.'.
Following the game, in which Stafford threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns, he was asked if he had 'good football' remaining. 'Sure feels like it,' he said. Matthew Stafford and his wife Kelly are seen with their four daughters at the end of last season.
Kelly was by Stafford's side after he helped the Rams book their place in Super Bowl LVI. In the offseason, Stafford agreed to re-work his deal with the Rams, forgoing his guarantees for the 2025 season and essentially agreeing to a one-year, $40million contract, as NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported at the time.
The Rams finished the regular season 10-7 after beginning the season 1-4 and going without receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua for extended stretches. 'Proud to be associated with this group ... It was a hell of an effort all year to get to this point,' Stafford said after the game.
