Maya Jama has hit out at "fake news" that she will be replaced by Maura Higgins as Love Island host, addressing the rumours on Instagram. The presenter, 30, took over from Laura Whitmore in January 2023 as host of the ITV reality dating show. But rumours about her departure were sparked, with former Love Island contestant Maura Higgins named as her replacement, following the Irish star's stint on I'm A Celebrity.

But Maya put any rumours to bed on her Instagram Story today. Writing to her 3.2 million followers, she said: "I will be hosting Love Island next year and have no plans to leave right now. Filmed the promo a couple days ago actually. Fake news is fake news-ing as usual.".

Maura, 34, appeared on this year's I'm A Celeb, where she won viewers over early doors when she entered the jungle alongside Reverend Richard Coles. Prior to her jungle experience, Maura had worked as Love Island USA's social media host, as well as the Love Island Games guest presenter.

Maya, meanwhile, said the Love Island gig was something she'd dreamt about for years. This year, Maya also joined Clara Amfo and Roman Kemp to host the Brit Awards. The news had come from a source of the Sun, who this week said: "Maya adores hosting Love Island and thinks it’s a great fit for now. But she’s keen to leave on a high and keep her career moving forward on the right tracks. She is incredibly ambitious and would like to keep focusing on primetime presenting opportunities.
