As a woman with a partner, father, brother and male friends, you’d think it would get easier to think up the perfect gifts for men. Alas, 26 years of my life have passed and I still find myself in the whisky and Lynx box set aisles, struggling to find a Valentine’s Day gift for men that’s actually good.

So, this year I decided that enough was enough, and took to Instagram to ask men what they really want for Valentine’s Day. The results, dear reader, are collated below. While some answers like socks and fleshlights didn’t surprise me, answers like jewellery and candles somewhat did, and it was great to see what things men craved to see wrapped up on the 14th after years of dud gifts.

I had some help from my partner, too, whose coffee, gym and alcohol-fuelled lifestyle was excellent inspiration. And I also received inspiration from women on gifts that had previously gone down a treat, and after a bit of a deep dive and soul search, I managed to compile a faily comprehensive little Valentine’s Day gift guide for men that ought to cover most bases.

Because it’s time we really started branching out from the boring stuff, you know?. From coffee subscriptions and compression sleeves to sex masterclasses and on-sale loungewear (we won’t tell), these are the best Valentine’s Day gifts for men that’ll you’ll want to snap up now ahead of the day.

If he's a coffee lover, then treating him to a coffee subscription is great way to ensure he's sipping only the best brews each and every morning. Taking you on an adventure through speciality coffee, the Origin Feature Coffee Subscription lets you experience a new coffee every week, discovering different countries, processing methods and flavours. Choose from whole beans or ground for espresso, filter or aeropress.
