Mikel Arteta insists he's in "constant contact" with Arsenal's owners as he looks to get some players in this month. The Gunners are yet to act in the January transfer market but, with Liverpool's lead at the top of the Premier League growing and the Gunners' injuries stacking up, there is a desire for the club to recruit some new faces.

Arteta is yet to sign a prolific frontman - and that has come to haunt the team on several occasions. Their attacking resources have been hit with Gabriel Jesus out for the season whilst Bukayo Saka will be sidelined for months. The Arsenal boss has made it clear that they are trying to get someone in before the transfer window shuts on February 3 and he continues to be in discussions with Arsenal’s owners. Co-chair Josh Kroenke is an influential figure and he's currently in the UK after flying in from the America and he is set to attend Wednesday’s Champions League with Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates.

Arteta said: “We are in constant contact, obviously - understanding the situation, how the team is evolving. Obviously, some of the big news that we had, unfortunately, they weren’t that positive. How we’re feeling about it, they’ve been super supportive and they continue to be so.”.

Asked if the owners are prepared to back him this month, Arteta added: “First of all, it’s backing the club and themselves, you know, because we all want the best. “The decision that we make is not to back anybody, it’s just something that makes sense, that is going to improve the squad, that is going to give us the ability to perform to a level and to win the things that we want to do. If that’s the case and we have the resources to do it, we will try.”.
