Traffic stopped on the busy M40 in Oxfordshire after a HGV overturned in a crash, leaving it hanging over a footpath. All were closed southbound on the M40 between junctions J8A Waterstock and J6 Lewknor after a crash which saw a lorry flip on its side.

Two lanes have now reopened after the motorway was shut for hours which caused queueing traffic to junction J9, but drivers still face 20-minute delays. Meanwhile, passengers catching a train this Christmas Eve have been warned of disruption on services between London Waterloo and Guildford due to emergency engineering works. All lines in the Clandon area are set to be blocked until the end of the day, causing schedule revisions and cancellations on South Western Railway trains.

Overnight snow on the M62 caused disruption at the weekend, and while more is likely to fall throughout December, it is not expected to cause any serious traffic problems today. easyJet flight EZY73MZ from Manchester finally reached Jersey airspace around 6pm, 11 hours after its scheduled departure time this morning.

Then, it turned around. Foggy conditions meant it couldn’t land. So now it is approaching Portsmouth on its way back to Manchester. Another easyJet flight from London, which departed more than two hours late, finally landed at 6.40pm after flying several circles near the island.
