Miracle of Malibu home untouched by wildfires that ravaged rest of neighbourhood

The LA wildfires have wreaked havoc across the California city, turning almost 10,000 buildings into ashes and killing 11 people. Malibu, a waterfront neighbourhood known for its surfing scene and A-list celebrity residents, has also seen major devastation.

Dozens of beachside homes squeezed between the ocean and the iconic Pacific Coast Highway were engulfed by the flames as the fire burned almost everything in its way. However, a handful of homes were miraculously saved while other homes just metres away were burned to the ground.

One property was seen standing alone flanked by smoldering ashes. The luxury $8 million mansion, built in 2000, is reportedly owned by a waste management company boss David Steiner, according to MailOnline. Just a short drive away east of Malibu, parts of the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood were totalled in the fires raging for the fourth day.
Shocking footage shows blocks of houses obliterated as far as the eye can see. Several celebrities have lost their homes, including Paris Hilton, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles, Mel Gibson, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester. Four fires are currently burning across the massive Los Angeles Metropolitan area – the Palisades, Eaton, Kennet and Hurst fires.
