Mo Salah has added more doubt to his future at Liverpool by insisting he is still “far away from any progress” in talks over a new contract. The Reds forward - along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk - is out of contract this summer at Anfield. Salah, 32, has been in talks with the club over a new deal but they have yet to come to an agreement and he is currently free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs.
The Egyptian said: “There is nothing, no progress there. We are far away from any progress so we just need to wait and see.”. Salah said, in an interview with Sky Sports, that this is his “last year” and “last six months” but that is more his current feeling on the situation until his future is sorted out.
Despite the noise around his future, Salah - who has been at Anfield since 2017 - is in stunning form. The Reds winger has scored 20 and created 17 so far this season as he proves not to be distracted by the doubts about his future. He said: “I think the thing in my head is OK if this is your last six months or last year, what do you want to see in the future? Do you want to look back and say ‘oh I was concerned about the contract or stressed?’ or do you just want to say ‘Ok I had an unbelievable season’.
“So that is in my head now. If I feel a kind of distraction I just remind myself ‘OK you want to look back and say I had an unbelievable season’ so that’s what I want to do.”. Is this Mohamed Salah's final Liverpool season? Let us know in the comments section.
