SHOCKING footage shared with The Sun shows the moment fairground goers scrambled to free a woman stuck on a collapsed ride in Birmingham. Cops and emergency services rushed to the scene and sealed off an area around the 180ft Star Flyer ride in Centenary Square - as two women were hospitalised.
More than half a dozen people were seen in video exclusively shared with The Sun urgently trying to free distressed young passengers after the attraction came to a screeching halt. They gathered around the mangled ride where at least two people were stuck between the collapsed seats and a barrier - fighting to hoist them down to safety.
Lou Brown, from Solihull, was one of the 13 victims and revealed her face, legs and arms were all injured. She told BBC WM: "We were on it having fun and it crashed to the ground. It went backwards first. "It felt like we were descending, not at the highest point but still quite high. We just dropped.
"All the emergency services and everyone who helped at the scene were amazing.". Clips of the terrifying aftermath saw baffled eyewitnesses describing how the ride suddenly collapsed - saying in disbelief "it was all the way up there and it fell, the thing fell!".
One bystander could be heard saying how there was "blood on someone's face". All the rides were stopped and the bright neon lights turned off as emergency services treated some 13 people injured at the scene. West Midlands Fire Service said the ride "dropped to ground level whilst in operation" in an incident around 7.30pm on Thursday.
