A police statement read: “Police in Bimini are investigating an alleged shark attack involving two female tourists that occurred around 6.30pm on Friday, February 7.
The two were rushed to a hospital in the Bahamas, where one of the women’s injuries were listed as “serious,” according to a statement from the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
Summer Layman thought she was “going to die” after a shark attacked her and her friend Rileigh Decker while they were enjoying a swim in the Bahamas.
The pair were paddling in the tropical waters of Bimini Bay on Friday, after jumping into the water from a friend's boat when they were both bitten by what they believe was a bull shark.
“It was very scary, the fear of thinking you’re going to die in the moment.” Their friends made a quick tourniquet from a towel and rope for Rileigh, before realising Summer's foot had been “shredded”.
