A MUM has been accused of damning her unborn child to "80 years of misery" for the unique baby name she is considering. Choosing a name for your baby can be an incredibly difficult task as you want to make sure you pick something unique, but not so out there that your child gets bullied.

Some people opt to name their child after a family member, whilst others choose to name their offspring after a favourite book or film character. However, one mum has decided to give her baby a name with a very unique spelling. Taking to Reddit, she revealed that she likes "funky" spellings of names, for example 'Saylor' instead of Sailor or 'Kiely' instead of 'Kylie'.

Looking for advice, she said: "How do we feel about funky spellings of names?. "As mentioned previously, my baby girl is due in six months and my husband loves Kiely as an alternate spelling of Kylie. "I love Saylor as an alternate spelling of Sailor.". "Am I damning my child to mispronunciation and misspelling of her name forever?.

"Is it in bad taste to name my kid a name with a goofy spelling?. "Any and all opinions are welcome!". Social media users were divided on the name, with some suggesting that the names are destined to be constantly mispronounced. One person said: "Yes, you are damning her to 80+ years of having to correct people or suck up having her name be mispronounced or spelt.
