A NEW storm may be hitting the UK this week, but there seems to be a different kind brewing in England this winter. It turns out people are more likely to cheat during the colder months and some cities are guiltier than others. According to research, January is the second most likely month for people to seek out affairs, with September taking the top spot.

You might be wondering why cheating is much more likely to happen in winter and the reason appears to be simple. Lucy Beresford, a Psychotherapist and Relationship Expert, says: "When nights are long and the weather is wintery, all we want to do is cosy up to a discreet cuddle partner to feel connected and valued.

"When the excitement of summer seems so far away, we want to feel nourished emotionally even more.". There's one city in particular that continues to hold the top spot for illicit affairs, Salford, and it seems they're cuddling up without their partners to stay warm this winter.
Neighbouring city Manchaster comes in close at number two while Newcastle Upon Tyne takes third place taking over scone-loving Exeter and proving Geordies idea of a good time involves more than a quick Guinness at the local boozer. Up north, Glasgow has taken the 12th spot for couples to cheat in the UK.
Ashley Madison, a dating site for people in relationships, conducted the research and found the top cities for cheaters through sign-ups to their site. Speaking on why the northern cities ar emor likely to treat, the relationship expert said it's all about the night life.
