If you're in a committed relationship, you don't expect to find your partner on a dating app. It's not uncommon for people to meet their partner via a dating app these days. But if you've been seeing someone for a while, it's courteous to at least have a discussion with them about whether you should both agree to delete the apps from your phones as a sign that you're committed to one another. But one woman has found out that her boyfriend still has several dating apps on his phone - 10 years after they first got together. She said he confessed to having the apps during a couple's therapy session after they began attending following a "tough year" between them. And what left her the most stunned was his four-word excuse.

The man had the audacity to tell his partner: "It's just a game.". In a post on Reddit, the woman fumed: "I confronted him about it, and he said, 'Oh, I can delete those, I was just swiping faces' and 'It's just a game'. He then proceeded to deflect and start talking about all the things I need to work on and how we just need to 'communicate' better.". The woman's boyfriend then "asked for some space", but a week later she discovered on their home computer that he had entered Google searches for "how to hide apps". What's more, he's created two more dating profiles behind his partner's back, and now alarm bells are ringing that he could be cheating on her.

When she confronted him a second time, however, he accused her of "snooping" on him. She added: "I brought up the fact I saw he Googled this, and he said I was snooping and 'tracking' him, and said that the app is just a dopamine hit. [He then] asked for some time [without] contact. Am I missing something? To me, this is cheating.". Commenters on the post were quick to agree with the woman that being active on dating apps should be considered cheating, especially given that he hasn't stopped after being caught the first time.

One person said: "Why are you continuing to waste time with him? He's shown you that he doesn't respect you, and yes, for most, being on dating apps behind your partner's back is considered cheating." Another added: "I know you are looking for others to confirm your thoughts, so you'll have an easier time accepting it. Yes, this is cheating. Do not let him convince you otherwise, and I am sorry.".
