Hollyoaks star Nadine Mulkerrin has reacted to co-star Tyler Conti’s departure, assuring fans that everyone loves him in real life. Tyler has played abuser Abe Fielding for a year (two in the show’s fictional timeline due to a gap in time), chilling audiences with his powerhouse performances. Abe, as viewers know, abused and controlled Cleo McQueen (played by Nadine) for over a year, keeping her prisoner in a secret room in his flat.

While Cleo was out of sight, he subsequently turned his attention to Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell) and, after the two tied the knot, he raped her in upsetting scenes. The villain also raped Leela Dexter (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) during the ‘missing’ year. His reign of terror came to an end this week after his actions were exposed on a livestream. A dramatic showdown ensued, with Abe taking Marie (Rita Simons) prisoner, bundling her into the back of a car, which was involved in a collision after Joel (Rory Douglas-Speed) desperately tried to rescue their mum.

Abe was later taken captive by Cleo and Sienna Blake (Anna Passey), with a sinister end lined up for the abuser. But while Abe has been pure evil, star Tyler is loved by the cast of the Channel 4 soap, with Nadine taking to social media to assure everyone of such a thing ahead of his final scenes.

‘He’s evil but we love him in real life @tylerconti,’ she wrote on her Instagram stories, sharing a snap of them together as they filmed the dramatic scenes. The actress also joked about the possibility of him returning one day as his ‘evil identical twin’ – much like Jez Blake, who is played by former Patrick Blake star Jeremy Sheffield. Hollyoaks streams Mondays to Wednesdays from 7am on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
