Netflix fans beg for 'spin-off' after iconic series finale throwback

It may not feel like it, but it's been a whole six years since the world was introduced to the awkwardly-precocious Otis Milburn. Constantly donned in his 80s polo and tri-coloured, but armed with a modern smart phone, this shy pupil somehow becomes the school's underground sex therapist - and quickly caught the world's attention.

Of course, we're talking about the acclaimed teen drama Sex Education, which went on for four strong seasons. Created by Laurie Nunn, the show wasn't afraid to break the mould and stand on controversial territory - breaking down taboos when it comes to all things sex. The series also garnered praise for its much-needed representation of LGBTQ+ relationships, and stunning portrayal of grief, trauma, and religion.

But in September 2023, the geographically ambiguous doors of Moordale Secondary School were closed for good as the final-ever episode was released. The show went off with a bang, with stars including Dan Levy and Hannah Gadsby making a special appearance. 15 months later, and fans are still hungry for more...

Taking to X, the official Netflix account posted a series of screenshots from the show in an emotional throwback. "Sex Education came to Netflix six year ago today," it wrote two days ago (January 11). Immediately, swathes of social media flocked to the comments section to express their love for the show, with many saying they 'miss it' and calling for its return.

"We need a spin-off of some kind please," one user urged. Another agreed, commenting enthusiastically: "WE WANT A SPIN-OFF!!" A third added: "I think there will be continuation of this show after six years," while a fourth penned: "Happy birthday to my favourite show in the entire universe." Feeling old? So are we...
