Netflix fans have days to watch ‘clever’ thriller before season 2 drops

There are only a few more days to binge the first series of a ‘fantastic’ thriller on Netflix before the hugely-anticipated second season lands. The Recruit premiered in 2022 and followed To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before star Noah Centineo as lawyer Owen Hendricks, whose life is instantly flipped upside down when he starts working for the CIA.

He finds himself plunged into complex international conflicts almost immediately, leading him into dangerous situations that are beyond his control. For those of us who are having withdrawals from Black Doves, the second season of Recruit is here to fill that void, with all six episodes dropping on the streaming service on January 30.

It will pick up directly after the events of the season one finale cliffhanger, with the synopsis teasing more trouble in store for Owen and co. The official synopsis reads: ‘Season two of The Recruit finds CIA lawyer, Owen Hendricks pulled into a life-threatening espionage situation in South Korea, only to realize that the bigger threat just might be coming from inside the Agency.’.

The Recruit currently boasts a Rotten Tomatoes score of 84% from impressed viewers, compared to a critics ranking of 68%. Heaping praise, user James K wrote: ‘Fantastic all round show! Great wit and action, definitely worth the watch, looking forward to seeing season 2. Highly recommended.’.

Lee T agreed: ‘Finding myself liking this more than I anticipated. Good mix of serious situations with wit and style. ‘Fun if you like this type of show. Not boring or slow. Not too obvious with decent writing which honestly, is saying a lot these days.’.
