If you're into skincare, you'll probably have heard of snail mucin. This trending ingredient – originating from Korea and most famously found in COSRX's cult classic Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence – delivers lightweight hydration and a gorgeous glow to skin – and now an innovative new formula is set to take the beauty world by storm. Popular skincare brand BYOMA has just launched its new Phyto-Mucin Glow Serum, priced at £15, using a vegan alternative to snail mucin (which uses real secretions harvested humanely from snails). Dropping this week on the BYOMA and Boots websites, this excellent value skincare formula contains plant-derived peptides and phycomucin, humectant panthenol and a barrier lipid complex for, BYOMA says, 'instantly glowing, luminous results'.

It's a quick and easy (and affordable) way to achieve the glowing 'glass skin' look, a flattering skincare trend that doesn't seem to be going away any time soon (it was even referenced on This Morning recently). Despite only just launching, Phyco-Mucin Glow Serum has already accumulated dozens of five star reviews from customers:.

"Bought this serum to try out and it is extremely hydrating and glowy, perfect under make-up and gives you healthy looking skin," one Boots shopper wrote. One person on agreed on the BYOMA website that it did indeed give 'glass skin', writing: "This product did not take long to give me results, my skin feels smooth, plumper, glowy and fresh. This is my desert island product!". A third called it a 'game changer', putting: "The phytomucin serum is an absolute game changer in my skincare routine! My skin has never glowed so much and I can already feel such a difference in the overall texture of my skin. The formula is so lightweight, absorbs into the skin so quickly and makes the perfect glowy make-up base! I'm completely obsessed with this already, my new favourite step in my skincare routine.".

One person, however, warned that it might not be suitable for spot-prone skin: "This is glass skin in a bottle but I'd advise acne prone people to be careful. I don't usually get acne but I found myself developing a lot of spots after using for a few days. Might just be an initial reaction that calms down but worth noting. Other than that it is so glowy and hydrating. Would give 5 stars if it didn't cause a break out.".

Our own beauty editor Laura got her hands on it too ahead of its launch, and was super impressed with its texture. "This has that same 'stringy' consistency as the COSRX one, and sinks quickly into the skin leaving it feeling incredibly smooth and plump; I can't stop touching my skin after applying this.". More new skincare launched that have got Laura excited about recently include this new Medik8 serum that smoothes lines in 10 minutes, a new eye cream from Skin Rocks, and the "perfect" moisturiser for problem skin.
