If you're a devotee of Squid Game and Pretty Little Liars, then Prime Video's new police drama On Call, which debuted on January 9, is a must-watch. This Dick Wolf original series, consisting of eight episodes, has been creating quite a stir since its premiere. The cast includes Troian Bellisario from Pretty Little Liars, Rich Ting from Squid Game, Brandon Larracuente from 13 Reasons Why, Lori Loughlin from 90210, and Eriq La Salle from Logan.

Troian portrays Traci Harmon and her novice partner Alex Diaz (played by Brandon) as they attend to emergency calls in Long Beach, California, while also dealing with the loss of a colleague. This marks Dick's first venture into a half-hour format, with each episode running for 24 minutes. The renowned film and television producer is the mastermind behind the Law and Order franchise as well as the Chicago franchise.

The series was initially announced in May 2021 by IMDb TV, now known as Amazon Freevee, marking Dick's debut in the streaming world after a successful career in television, reports the Mirror US. However, production was halted in May 2023 due to picketing during the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike.

Within a week of its release, On Call became the most-watched show on Prime Video in the United States. The show has garnered a 7.6 rating out of 10 on IMDb from 5.4 thousand reviews, within just 13 days of release. Fans are heaping praise on the series, with one enthusiast saying: "The show, praised for its inventive use of simulated body-worn cameras, brings an immersive and unfiltered perspective to police work.
