Pat Perez will remain with LIV Golf for the 2025 season, but not as a player, after the former PGA Tour star was appointed to the league's TV broadcast team. After being dropped from Dustin Johnson's 4Aces team and replaced by ex-RangeGoats star Thomas Pieters, Perez found himself without a team for the new season. He will be remaining a part of the league though, albeit in a non-playing capacity and in the commentary booth.
Embracing his fresh start in broadcasting, Perez said, "I'm full-steam on this thing," and "I'm really excited to do it. It's a perfect mid-life restart for me... Thought about doing TV for years now.". Perez will be a familiar face throughout all 14 LIV events in 2025, providing on-course analysis and contributing to pre and post-round coverage. Despite a tough last season that led to his replacement by team captain Johnson, Perez is looking forward to his new role in 2025.
"I've always been more of a team-type person." Perez expressed. "That's my kind of vibe. My thing is to build up the players. There's so much talent in the league, top to bottom. Basically, help our fans by giving them the player's perspective. I thought I'd still be playing but now I'm focused on the TV thing.
"This could be the start of a whole new career, and I'm thankful it's worked out this way." James Watson, LIV Golf Senior Vice President, Worldwide Production, welcomed the player's new position, commenting: "Pat is one of the great characters of the game.
"When it looked like he was going to be available, chasing him as an addition to our broadcast team was a no-brainer. His experience as both a LIV player and championship-level competitor will really add to the diverse range of voices we already have in the mix.".
