With a New Year upon us, one of our favourite shows is back on our screens again. Since launching in 2020, The Masked Singer has seen a group of celebrities have their identities concealed with elaborate costumes before taking to the stage to sing. Tasked with trying to uncover their identities this season are Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross and Maya Jama, who were also joined by guest judge Mo Farah on the premiere episode.
On the first night of the competition six of the 12 contestants performed – Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Snail, Spag Bol, Tattoo and Teeth. Here’s everything we know about Kingfisher so far. Maya settled her guess as former England manager Harry Redknapp. Explaining her thinking, she said: ‘You are wise, quite mature, a little bit older, maybe?’ You have a career, you’re very successful in it…’.
Due to the name tag reading ‘Harry’, plus a fishing net featuring in the first VT – which could be a football net – Maya believes the sporting legend is underneath the costume. Meanwhile, Davina McCall believes he is someone who has done a fishing programme and travels around, which could be Bob Mortimer.
However, she ultimately settled on Paul Whitehouse. Kingfisher is seemingly someone who enjoys being out in nature. For this reason, the judges believe he could be either naturalist and nature photographer Chris Packham, or gardener Alan Titchmarsh. Many of those watching at home also shared their ideas on who it might be.
