Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Oscar Bobb could soon be ready for his return to first-team action for Manchester City after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. After an encouraging win over Chelsea at the weekend, City have the opportunity to claw back more ground on those above them in the Premier League when they visit Arsenal on Sunday.

Before that, however, Guardiola’s side face a must-win Champions League clash with Club Brugge as they look to avoid a shock exit from the European competition. City are 25th going into their final group game, with the top-eight teams qualifying automatically for the knockout stages and the teams from 9th to 24th going into a play-off.

A win on Wednesday, however, would see Guardiola’s side leapfrog their Belgian opponents and secure a play-off berth. And City have been handed a boost ahead of the clash, with Guardiola confirming that young forward Bobb could soon be in line for a return to action.

The 21-year-old shone in the Community Shield at the start of the season, but suffered an unfortunate injury shortly after in training which has ruled him out for more than five months. While the young Norwegian is unlikely to be fit for the midweek Champions League clash, he could be able to play a part in this weekend’s crunch league fixture.
