The identities of the pilot, copilot and one of the doctors aboard the medical transport flight that tragically crashed in Northeast Philadelphia on Friday night have been revealed. The pilot was Alan Montoya and the copilot was Jesús Juárez. They were among seven fatalities when the Learjet 55 they were flying, carrying a young girl who had just received "life-saving care" at a Philadelphia hospital, her mother and two doctors, crashed in a bustling intersection. This horrific incident claimed the lives of all six passengers and another individual in a car near the crash site.

One of the doctors has been identified as Dr. Raul Meza, according to XE Médica Ambulancia, a Mexican emergency service. They posted on their platform: "Dr. Raúl Meza was part of [the] crew in the air ambulance XA-UCI belonging to another company where [he] also provides his professional services.". Meza served as their chief of neonatology. In addition to the fatalities, 19 people were injured, as reported by Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker during a press conference on Saturday. However, she stressed that these figures may change as the investigation continues and potentially uncovers more casualties, reports the Mirror US.

The cause of the fatal crash remains unknown as investigators comb through the wreckage for clues that could shed light on the tragic incident. The public has been urged to steer clear of the area due to the presence of hazardous debris, including oxygen tanks. Philadelphia's Managing Director, Adam Thiel, and Parker have also appealed to anyone who may have evidence on their vehicles or personal items to dial 911 immediately, emphasising the importance of not tampering with potential evidence. The nature of the young girl's illness is yet to be disclosed, but it's known that she had just received clearance from a Philadelphia hospital and was en route to Tijuana with her family when the plane crashed, claiming the lives of all onboard. The aircraft was scheduled to make its first stop in Missouri before proceeding to Tijuana. The explosion reportedly sparked fires in five residential houses, which were swiftly extinguished by authorities. CCTV footage from a nearby eatery captured patrons being struck by flying debris, with one man's hat knocked off his head by a hurtling piece of shrapnel.

The extent of injuries sustained by the 19 individuals involved in the crash is yet to be determined, as many have been transported to local hospitals for medical attention, according to statements from authorities including Thiel. It has been reported that all six passengers on the plane were Mexican nationals. Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed her condolences via Twitter, with a Google translation of her Spanish tweet reading: "I regret the death of six Mexicans in the plane crash in Philadelphia, United States. The consular authorities are in permanent contact with the families; I have asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support them in whatever way is required. My solidarity with their loved ones and friends.".
