Shockwaves ripple through the Platt family when the arsonist responsible for the fire at their home is exposed in Coronation Street next week. On Monday, fans of the ITV soap saw No. 8 go up in flames after a mystery assailant dropped a lit rag through the letter box. Subsequently, Max Turner’s (Paddy Bever) life has been left hanging in the balance, and scenes this week will see the Platts worry that he won’t pull through.
David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) will also find himself arrested on suspicion of trying to pull off an insurance scam on the house. However, he is adamant that Logan Radcliffe (Harry Lowbridge) has to be responsible, having previously intimidated the Platts on behalf of gangster Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor), who wants the money back that David stole from him last year.
Meanwhile, Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) becomes concerned his wife Abi Webster (Sally Carman), who currently experiencing PTSD after Mason Radcliffe’s (Luca Toolan) murder last month, could have started the fire. As Abi goes missing in the aftermath, Kevin’s fears only worsen when he later notices one of the jerry-cans containing a load of petrol is missing from the garage. After reviewing the CCTV, he spies a hooded figure searching for one.
Next week, he shows the footage to Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Shona Platt (Julia Goulding). Shona is horrified when she sees it, but quickly covers her tracks. What – or indeed, who – is it she has seen?. While fans will have to wait to find out, Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) will come under suspicion from police after they are forced to let David go. Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) interviews her and she’s forced to admit the evidence against her looks bad, but she protests her innocence.
But then some new evidence then comes to light, which will leave someone with some very serious questions to answer…. Coronation Street airs these scenes from Monday 10 February at 8pm on ITV1 or stream first on ITVX.
