Rasmus Hojlund poked fun at Kyle Walker on social media after the pair's furious clash during Manchester United's 2-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday. United left it late to secure a dramatic victory against their rivals at the Etihad through Amad Diallo after Bruno Fernandes' penalty cancelled out Josko Gvardiol's opener for City.
Earlier in the game, tensions threatened to spill over when Hojlund and Walker collided while going up for a header, with the latter pushing his rival to the ground. Hojlund chased after Walker before the pair squared up to each other and the Manchester City defender fell to the floor. He claimed the Danish forward had headbutted him and triggered a brawl between all 22 players.
Both players were booked over the incident but Walker was condemned by pundits for his perceived play-acting. And after United secured the bragging rights in the Manchester Derby, Hojlund decided to put the boot into Walker and teased him for going to ground so easily.
In an Instagram post using a picture of the pair butting heads, he wrote: "Manchester is red, violets are blue. What a brilliant performance, but the Oscar goes to...". Fans were left in stitches after the post, dubbing him "the Caption King" as one replied: "You're a savage for writing this," while another called him a "legend".
Walker's antics earned him some stinging criticism from pundit Roy Keane, who dubbed him as "embarrassing" for going to ground after clashing with Hojlund despite a lack of contact. "How can Walker go down like that? He must be embarrassed to go down like that, an experienced player. I don't know the guy, but I'm embarrassed for him. It's embarrassing. I would have given a red card to Walker.".
