Richard Hammond has revealed that he plans to get barred from Jeremy Clarkson’s pub The Farmer’s Dog. After appearing on Top Gear and The Grand Tour together, the playful relationship between Jeremy and Richard has been apparent for many years, and the pair enjoy winding each other up – along with their co-star James May. Jeremy, 64, has now opened a farm and a pub, called The Farmer’s Dog, which has gained a huge amount of publicity due to his Amazon Prime series, Clarkson’s Farm.
Richard revealed that he has not yet visited his co-star’s Cotswolds pub, but has a devious plan to get barred when he does. While on the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, Richard said: ‘No, I haven’t. I want to go and get banned. So I’ve got to summon the energy to do that.’. He then added: ‘I don’t think it’ll be that difficult. I think he’s already banned James.’. So far Jeremy has banned a select group of famous faces including Kier Starmer, James May, and Maddy Hornby.
In the same interview, Richard was also asked if James still had his pub. ‘I don’t know, I guess so. I went there. I’ve been to his, but I haven’t yet been to Jeremy’s. I’m always asked.’. Chris then questioned: ‘So you went to James May’s pub, did you have to buy a drink?’. ‘Yeah, I had to pay for it,’ he admitted. James co-owns a pub called The Royal Oak in Swallowcliffe. The Wiltshire pub has been described as a ‘hidden gem’.
In 2022, James revealed in an article for The Sunday Times that he purchased the pub for ‘selfish’ reasons as it was his local pub that was otherwise going to shut down. Richard and his wife of 30 years, Mindy split earlier this month. He announced his marriage to the 59-year-old journalist was ‘coming to an end’ after spending Christmas together as a family with their two daughters – Isabelle, 24, and Willow, 21.
In a statement on X, Richard said they have ‘had an amazing 28 years together and two incredible daughters.’. He added: ‘We will always be in each other’s lives and are proud of the family we created.’. Richard then concluded that they wouldn’t be ‘commenting further’ and asked for ‘privacy’ as they headed into the new year with a ‘different’ family structure’. Got a story?.
