Rio Ferdinand has revealed that Edwin van der Sar may be forced to leave a Manchester United legends' group chat - despite being one of the latest to join. Ferdinand has revealed he and some of his old team-mates have a chat named 'Band of Brothers', with Wayne Rooney and Patrice Evra among the others in the WhatsApp group. The pundit hasn't gone into huge detail, but has been prepared to admit the struggles of the current United team remains a frequent topic of discussion.
Van der Sar, who was United's keeper for their Champions League triumph in 2008, is a recent addition to the chat. The keeper was also at his former team's last Premier League game, away to another of his old sides in Fulham. Ferdinand has opened up on the current and former players in the chat, with Jonny Evans involved while remaining part of Ruben Amorim's squad. Dutch international Van der Sar could be a short-lived addition, though.
"We hammer each other. Active... it's active constantly," Ferdinand told United Women's star Ella Toone on his Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel. "Wazza (Wayne Rooney) was the last person who spoke in there. It's called 'Band of Brothers'. I can't tell you the next bit, it won't make the cut.
"It's just hammering the United team. Look, lads are just hammering them through the game. 'He's not good enough'. I love it. It just keeps me connected to the lads. You've got the younger lads like Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck, and then there's Nani and Anderson.
"You know who joined recently? Edwin van der Sar. I think he's going to delete himself soon because the chat ain't for him. I don't think he knows how to send gifs. Who else is in there? Jonny Evans is in there, who's currently playing. Some of the stuff that goes on... Patrice Evra gets mullered, hammered all the time. We hammer each other.".
