Ronnie O'Sullivan's Welsh Open call, message to WST, return to action, heated incident Ronnie O'Sullivan's withdrawal from the Welsh Open is just the latest twist in the snooker legend's start to 2025.

While commentating during Mark Selby's impressive 6-1 win over Ali Carter at the Masters, O'Sullivan appealed to the World Snooker Tour (WST) to consider hiring mental health professionals to support players.

O'Sullivan was set to face Jamie Clarke in Llandudno on Tuesday afternoon, but hours before they were supposed to begin, a World Snooker Tour statement confirmed the Rocket would be absent from North Wales.

O'Sullivan, who has been open about his personal battles with depression, alcohol and drug abuse, said: "I think World Snooker should have someone like in football.

I lost the plot on Thursday, snapped my cue, so that's unplayable, so I knew at that moment in time the right decision was to not play and such a big tournament that I thought whoever was to come in should have had at least a couple of days notice.".
