Manchester United's hopes of landing Patrick Dorgu have been given a boost, with Lecce closing in on a successor to the Danish international. Dorgu has played at right-back and left-back in Serie A this term, though United head coach Ruben Amorim is understood to have a left-sided role in mind. United have fallen short of Lecce's asking price so far, but a renewed bid can't be ruled out.
In the meantime, the Italian side have been making progress on their search for a new full-back. They have put in a bid for Hearts defender Daniel Oyegoke, and now Danilo Veiga appears to be close to a move. At the time of writing, reports in Italy indicate Veiga is close to a move from Estrela da Amadora worth up to £1.3million. Oyegoke, meanwhile, was left out of Hearts' squad for their weekend win against Kilmarnock amid interest from Italy.
Arsenal academy product Oyegoke has mostly been used at right-back and centre-back in Scotland, but can also play on the left. Portugal Under-21 international Veiga has been used down the right for his club side, who are locked in a relegation battle in the Primeira Liga.
Lecce are after more than £33m for Dorgu, who joined from Nordsjaelland's academy in 2022. He has missed just one league game this season, and started at left-back against Inter Milan on Sunday. While waiting for certainty on Dorgu, United have welcomed back Tyrell Malacia after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The Dutch international featured in the FA Cup win at Arsenal and Europa League victory over Rangers, indicating he was happy to be back after missing all of last season.
