Ruben Amorim has hinted that Alejandro Garnacho could leave Manchester United after failing a two-month long task. The Argentine forward has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford over the coming month, with Chelsea and Napoli chasing him. Garnacho, 20, has started just two of the last seven Premier League matches under Amorim since being axed from the squad against Manchester City.
He was named in the starting line-up during Sunday’s 1-0 win against Fulham at Craven Cottage. But it appears that he has not done enough to convince Amorim he has a future at the club. The Portuguese coach admitted he still hasn’t worked out Garnacho’s best position despite having spent two months at the club. Speaking after the win at Fulham, he said: "That, nobody knows [whether Garnacho will leave].
“Anything can happen. He is improving in every part of the game: the understanding, when to defend. I am trying to find the best position for him, today he played a bit open, not so inside. We need guys who can play one v one.". Amorim’s admission over Garnacho’s position comes just days after the forward had expressed his own worries. It was suggested that the former Atletico Madrid youngster was concerned about where he slots into Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation that does not utilise traditional wide players.
