Ruben Amorim says he has no regrets at letting Marcus Rashford leave Manchester United – with the striker joining Aston Villa on loan today. United slumped to a fifth home defeat in their last six home Premier League games, their chronic lack of goals underlined once again by their failure to score. Only four Premier League teams have scored fewer goals than United this season but Amorim said it will not be “embarrassing” if Rashford goes to Villa and starts scoring freely again.

“It's not embarrassing,” said Amorim. ”When you loan a player - and I don't think it's official yet - you expect him to play and improve, so there's nothing humiliating there. I understand the question, but I'm just focused on my players, that’s all. When the window closes, I will be really focused on just our team and trying to improve our team. “We have to improve as a team to score goals and we are trying our best to improve the team.

"This market is really hard on the clubs to make some deals here. It’s hard. Then you have the urgency and sometimes, when you are in the moment, you make mistakes. “We're trying everything and we want so badly to improve, I want so badly to improve the team. I know what the team needs. Sometimes it’s possible or not, but we're trying everything.”. Villa will pay a minimum of 75 percent of Rashford's £325,000-a-week wages, which could rise to 90 per cent, depending on performance-related bonuses. They will also have an option to buy him at the end of the season.

United have been linked with a deadline day loan move for Bayern Munich's young forward Mathys Tel, but Amorim would only say: “When the window closes, we will see the players, I’m focused on improving the team as a group. “We need to win more games and we will try to do that, this season is like that. We need small improvements, try to win points, win the momentum, then we had setbacks and we go again. But it’s clear we need to improve.”.
