Patrick Dorgu, who is reportedly on the verge of joining Manchester United, has been urged to reject a move to Old Trafford by his former coach. The 20-year-old is expected to become Ruben Amorim's first signing as United boss, with a £33million transfer from Lecce nearing completion. Dorgu has fewer than 70 senior games under his belt, but looks set to be thrown in at the deep end as the solution to the Red Devils' wing-back problems.
A blockbuster move to United might sound like a dream, but the Denmark international might want to think twice about it if FC Nordsjælland manager Jens Olsen's comments are anything to go by. The 49-year-old, who coached Dorgu while managing Denmark's U19s team, has encouraged the left-sided defender to said no to the 13-time Premier League champions, citing the club's ongoing struggles both on and off the pitch.
"If I have to be a little cheeky. I hope he chooses something other than Manchester United right now," Olsen told Tipsbladet. "I don't know if it's a bad fit, but they're just in a period where... I don't know if you can afford to say no to United, but maybe somewhere where there's a little more structure and where things fit in with his pace," Olsen added. "Sometimes things have to go in the right order, if you can say it like that.".
United have endured one of their worst starts to a domestic season in their history, having suffered 11 defeats in all competitions so far. They're also battling, and struggling, to get into the top half of the Premier League table, having spent all but two weeks of the campaign in 10th place or lower.
