Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Mikel Arteta pushes for striker signing as Gunners get Mathys Tel boost

Arsenal have just hours to go before the January transfer window slams shut and there's not long to bring in a new striker that could transform their season. The Gunners have been urged to dip into the market to sign a striker and it's understood Mikel Arteta is still keen on adding more attackers to his squad with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus both injured. Arsenal's incredible 5-1 thrashing of Manchester City sent shockwaves through the Premier League that they could be real contenders for the title, but they will likely need more firepower if they want to overhaul leaders Liverpool.
The club have already been dealt a blow after former target Mathys Tel agreed to join their rivals Tottenham on loan, while Benjamin Sesko is unlikely to go anywhere today. However, there's every chance Arsenal could pull a rabbit out of the hat or return to the table with a dramatic deadline day bid for Ollie Watkins. In terms of outgoings, there could be some loan exits, while Oleksandr Zinchenko has also attracted interest from Europe.
Keep up to date with all the latest Arsenal news below... Arsenal target Joan Garcia, who came close to a move last summer but elected to remain at Espanyol, has spoken about his plans for the future. After coming close to a move last summer he remained at Espanyol. Now the keeper says:. "I am a very cold person in every sense and I think that this attitude helps me. I am very calm at Espanyol, with an opportunity that I have been waiting for a long time.".
According to The Sun, Justin Kluivert's name is on the up at the Emirates. He's shone for Bournemouth playing as a No.10 under Andoni Iraola, having primarily operated out wide for the majority of his career. And it's claimed that the Gunners could look to do a summer deal for the Dutchman - who is also interesting Newcastle. Here's what Thierry Henry had to say on Sky Sports about Arsenal's striker situation on Sunday.
"There's one thing I wanted to mention as an Arsenal man. Always Arsenal fans say to me, we need a nine. Nobody is going to ask for a nine after this game. "Yeah they should still ask. It's not because you won 5-1 that you don't need a nine. We've been, as Arsenal fans, asking for a nine for two years, four transfer windows. "We still didn't see it. You can't be calling for a nine when you can't put the ball in the back of the net and then when you do, forget it.
"You call for a nine all the time. I don't often believe in the January transfer window, that's only me. I keep saying all the time, sometimes you don't get the player you want, wait for it, and go and get it in the summer. We haven't done that yet.". Unless something hugely surprising is about to happen, he won't be getting his way. We're into the final five hours of the transfer window. There's a number of deals being worked on.
Here's six that could well get done tonight. Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has waded in on Mathys Tel's decision to join Tottenham despite huge interest from Arsenal - and after previously rejecting Spurs. He believes Tel will see Spurs as a place where he can play regularly and benefit from plenty of chances, while not immediately committing his future to the club with no option to buy. He said: "I think to be fair to the lad, if you're getting the option and Arsenal or Man United are there you'd probably pick those clubs ahead of Tottenham. I'd understand that.
"I think it looks like maybe Tottenham are getting him in loan now, so I think that is a good deal for both teams. "If he settles in well at Tottenham he'll definitely get a lot of chances - they create chances, they score goals. For me, one of the most exciting teams in the league so for me this move works for player and the club. He's not getting the minutes so it works for everybody.". Arsenal have suffered a handful of blows in their search for a new forward, the latest being Ollie Watkins, but Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood believes he has identified a solid option for the Gunners in Ipswich Town's Liam Delap.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “No brainer for me. [Liam] Delap in front of Watkins – for what they need at the moment – and ahead of [Benjamin] Sesko. Right now. "I know Ipswich without Delap are pretty much consigned to the Championship next year, but I think £40m would get him now and someone who would get development under Mikel Arteta. “He gives them something different. He is a box player. He is strong, he holds the ball up, he brings others into play. I think he is an absolute no brainer, someone who knows the league.".
We spoke about this move earlier and now it's been confirmed. Maldini Kacurri has joined Bromley on loan, with the League Two side revealing he has signed a deal until the end of the season. He previously played for the club in their youth system before joining Arsenal. The club said: "Bromley Football Club are delighted to welcome former Bromley Youth player Maldini Kacurri back to Hayes Lane. The defender joins on loan from Premier League side Arsenal until the end of the season.
