The former figure skating champions and married couple Evgenia Shishkova, 53, and Vadim Naumov, 56, were reportedly on board the plane. Their son Maxim, who ice skated in the United States team in singles, is also feared to have been on the flight along with other young skaters.

They had taken part in the skating championships in Wichita, where the crashed American Airlines plane was travelling from en route to Washington DC. The couple won the World Figure Skating Championships in 1994. They had been living in the US since at least 1998 where they trained the next generation of ice skaters. The family had been to Wichita, Kansas, where Maxim had competed in the championships which wrapped up on Sunday.
Russian Mash news outlet revealed a list of 13 skaters who had allegedly been on the flight. Many of them are children of Russian emigres to the US. In a last Instagram post, Evgenia and Vadim celebrated their son Maxim for ‘getting on the podium’ at the competition. They wrote: ‘Once again, Maxim made us all proud, getting on to the podium at Nationals after 7th place in the short. ‘This beautiful and emotional performance is a result of a team work.
‘Huge thanks to Serhii and Irina Vaypan and of course to Adam Blake for his wonderful choreography of a classic!. ‘Maxim has earned his place in the team of 4 Continents.’. Dozens are feared dead after the passenger plane carrying 64 people collided with a US military Black Hawk helicopter on approach to Reagan National Airport. There has been no confirmation of survivors being pulled from the freezing Potomac River.
