Our rating: 9 out of 10. We like:. We don’t like:. With rival Apple slow to start in the AI race, Samsung has doubled down on artificial intelligence for its latest S25 series, with AI baked into every part of the phone, from Google’s Gemini voice AI to new ‘AI agent’ functions, which Samsung promises will become like little AI ‘helpers’ inside your phone.
Naturally, this being Samsung, it’s also armed with a blazingly fast (and unique) customised Snapdragon 8 Elite processor which promises to boost performance up to 80 per cent. A curvy-cornered new look marks this out from last year’s S24 Ultra (it’s now a very glamorous device indeed), although Samsung devotees may be a little disappointed with the hardware upgrades, with a new 50 megapixel ultrawide camera the ‘newest’ thing on offer, and screen and battery very similar to last year’s model.
We test each new phone for at least a week in real-world situations, making calls, downloading data and running power-hungry and graphically demanding apps such as games and hi-def video to push its limits. We’re looking for a comfortable and well laid-out design, a clear, bright screen and hardware (CPU, sensors and speakers) that can easily handle multiple functions.
