Huge plumes of smoke can be seen coming from a family car which burst into flames with kids inside being taken to school. Emergency services were called to Fluthers Car Park, Cupar, in Fife on Monday morning, following the blaze and two fire engines helped to put out the flames.
Images taken from the scene show the abandoned car engulfed in flames in the car park. Huge plumes of black smoke can be seen billowing up into the air and fortunately nobody was injured in the incident. The owner of the car said: "It was me and Mrs taking kids to school. Got out just in time. Went up so quick." The cause of the blaze is unknown. One person wrote on social media: "The family I believe is good they were there when I arrived and they seemed okay," and another commented: "That would be the smoke we could see from the school.".
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson, reported the Daily Record, said: “We were alerted at 8.53am on Monday, January 27 to reports of a car on fire at Fluthers Car Park, East Burnside, Cupar, Fife. Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting one vehicle. There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”.
Meanwhile earlier this month fire crews scrambled to a car ablaze in a supermarket car park in Fife, leaving shoppers in shock. The blaze took hold under the bonnet of the motor parked outside the Lidl and B&M stores in Cowdenbeath on January 13. The red Hyundai was reportedly empty as it sat parked outside the shops.
