A legendary actor is set to make a dramatic return to the Scream series, but fans have spotted a major issue. The beloved star, known for roles in the live-action Scooby-Doo and season three of David Lynch's Twin Peaks, is gearing up to reprise his memorable character in the eagerly anticipated Scream 7. The horror saga, which has starred big names like Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Jenna Ortega, is slated for another chilling chapter next year.

Matthew Lillard, who played a significant role in the original movie, is reportedly making a sensational return. Although his stellar performance in Wes Craven's first film is still fresh in fans' minds, some are puzzled over how his character could possibly come back. It's been confirmed that Lillard will be back as Stu Macher in Scream 7, but not all fans are thrilled about this development. Amidst a surge of affection for Lillard and his past performances, the casting news has left some Scream enthusiasts skeptical. One social media user commented: "Yeah this movie lost the last bit of credibility it had.".

Another added: "Look I can buy a lot of things when it comes to movie franchises. One thing I find extremely difficult to believe is that Matthew Lillard's character survived having a flipping TV thrown onto his face and being electrocuted.". Fans had mixed reactions over the latest casting news for Scream 7, with some expressing scepticism and others sheer excitement. One fan expressed their doubts, writing: "What???????? Hmmmmm. I love Stu. I love Matthew Lillard, but Stu is dead. Keeping him alive would tarnish this franchise. I'll still be watching but... hmmm I really don't know guys.".

Meanwhile, other movie buffs are thrilled, with one exclaiming it's the "greatest news I've ever heard" and another highlighting that the franchise isn't shy about bringing back characters from the dead, noting: "They're also bringing back the killer from Scream 3, Sidney's half-brother Roman.". Some fans are optimistic about the film's potential, fully supporting the decisions of filmmaker Kevin Williamson.

Williamson, the mastermind behind the original Scream saga and its sequels, is back at the helm for Scream 7 after contributing to the 2022 reboot. The fandom's overall sentiment seems positive, with one fan writing: "Oh yes we are sat." Another added: "What the hell is going on in this movie.". Another intriguing theory was shared by a fan who suggested: "Twist, they go full Wes [Craven] and make it a meta-meta movie like New Nightmare. All the actors come back as the actors, but Ghostface attacks them.".
