Eugenio Chacarra has taken a swipe at LIV Golf following the confirmation of his departure. The Spaniard was the first low-ranked amateur to join the start-up league, backed by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF), back in 2022. Despite winning the LIV Golf Bangkok invitational in his first year, Chacarra had a disappointing 2024 season and was not retained by Sergio Garcia's Fireball GC team. His replacement has been named as fellow Spaniard Luis Masaveu.

Recently, Chacarra confirmed he would be leaving the Saudi Arabian-backed golf venture to pursue a PGA Tour card. As he exited, Chacarra took a parting shot at LIV Golf. Speaking to Flushing It, Chacarra said: "When I joined LIV, they promised [Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points] and majors.

"But it didn't happen. I trusted them. I was the first young guy, then the others came after I made the decision. But OWGR and majors still hasn't happened. I saw you last year when they pulled the bid. It's frustrating, but I'm excited for the new opportunity and to see where my game takes me.".

Chacarra has set his sights on the PGA Tour, candidly revealing that LIV Golf's main attraction is its financial incentives. He confessed: "I see what it's like to win on the PGA Tour and how your life changes. How you get major access and ranking points.

"On LIV, nothing changes, there is only money. It doesn't matter if you finish thirtieth or first, only money. I'm not a guy who wants more money. What will change my life is playing in Hawaii and qualifying for the majors, qualifying for the Masters, the Ryder Cup.
