Sue Radford was left devastated after missing the birth of her 13th grandchild because her husband Noel had taken her on a surprise holiday just three weeks before their daughter's due date. Katie Radford, 22, from Morecambe, Lancashire - the eighth eldest of Britain's largest family - gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Ronnie Hudson Carter, in October of last year.
The latest episode of 22 Kids and Counting, which airs on Channel 5, documents Katie's pregnancy journey before giving birth to the son she shares with long term partner Connor Carter. Despite the mother-to-be wanting her parents to be there for the birth, a booking blunder from Noel meant that the parents-of-22 ended up missing the arrival of their 13th grandchild - much to Sue's disappointment.
During the episode, the first-time mother's pregnancy is revealed after Noel discovers a positive test in the family home and realises it must be Katie's. However, while the family gets to grips with another new arrival, Noel has something else on his mind - how he and Sue will celebrate their 32nd wedding anniversary.
After much deliberation, Noel decides to whisk Sue away to Dubai - but his romantic gesture has disastrous consequences when he realises, after booking the trip, that it falls three weeks before Katie gives birth. Unfortunately for Sue and Noel, Katie's baby is in a hurry to arrive and is in fact born while his grandparents were on the flight from Manchester to Dubai - meaning they miss his birth.
