If you go down to Tesco this week, you might notice that something is looking a little bit different…. That’s because the supermarket is removing its iconic logo from Bags For Life, and replacing it with some other five-letter words. Shoppers might notice that instead of the word ‘Tesco’, their carrier bags will say things like ‘Treat’, ‘Party’, ‘Loved’ and ‘Share’. This is to tie-in with the retailer’s brand new food campaign, titled ‘It’s Not a Little Thing. It’s Everything.’.
The campaign highlights the emotional impact of food, and celebrates the intricate details that make every dish and every meal special – from cracking open the perfect soft boiled egg to reveal a gooey golden yolk, to the satisfying crunch of biting into a slice of sourdough toast. This new campaign will take over from the Food Love Stories one that Tesco had been running for the last seven years.
As well as five limited-edition bags (which cost 30p each and are made of 100% recycled plastic), there will also be a new television advert to mark the campaign, and large-scale billboards. Murray Bisschop, UK marketing director of Tesco said: ‘When it comes to food, every detail matters to us, because we know the role it plays in our customers’ lives. ‘Our new campaign captures this. We believe a great dish starts with quality ingredients, whether that’s a tender steak, crisp greens or juicy corn on the cob. For us, it’s not a little thing, it’s everything.’.
This isn’t the only change Tesco has made of late though. The supermarket is also currently trialling new ‘Your Clubcard Prices’ which give shoppers personalised deals and discounts based on their shopping habits. These deals will be offered every Wednesday, and the best part is that the same deal can then be used multiple times in a seven-day period. Available through the Tesco app, the discounts will be automatically linked to shoppers’ Clubcards, making it easy to access the offers with a simple scan or a tap at the till as usual – and it won’t affect regular Clubcard deals either.
Not every Tesco customer will get to be part of the trial though. The offers are reserved for larger Tesco stores, and cannot be redeemed in Express stores or online. Currently, it’s also unclear how many customers will take part in the supermarket’s trial or how long it will last for. And the supermarket also recently made a big change to its online shopping across 400 stores, making same-day home delivery slots available ‘at least four hours earlier than any other retailer’.
Previously, Tesco only offered same day delivery slots between 7pm and 11pm. The new times are 1pm to 11pm.Click+Collect timings have also been brought forward, moving from 4pm to 8pm to 12pm to 8pm.
