The digital camera is back! Gen Z are ditching smart phones for more 'authentic' and 'unpolished' pics

As mobile phones became more advanced with facial recognition and state of the art cameras - many imagined they've never need to bother leaving the house with anything else. But despite growing up surrounded by rapidly improving technology and phones, it's the youngest generation who are turning their backs on the latest mobile phones.
Instead, young people are from around the world are picking up the digital camera - packing them for nights out, holidays and social events. According to Goggle trends, searches for digital cameras have more than doubled since 2021, while under the hashtag digital cameras in TikTok, there are more than 276,000 videos have been posted, with Gen Z sharing snaps from their nights out.
The Canon PowerShot, which was first released in 1996, is especially popular among young people, who hailed the digital camera for it's ability to capture the 'best night out' pictures that looked less 'polished' than those captured on phones. In one clip, creator Evie Clark, took to the app to share top tips on where to find 'the best digital cameras'.
Snapping up an example picture on camera, she revealed that her favourite was the Canon Ixus, which was first released in 1996. 'You get the best night out pictures like this,' she said revealing a bright flash image of her and her friends enjoying a night out.
