Thomas Frank believes Liverpool are a level above Arsenal in the Premier League title race following Brentford’s 2-0 defeat to Arne Slot’s side on Saturday. Liverpool appeared to be on course for a stalemate at the Gtech Community Stadium before Darwin Nunez put the Premier League leaders in front in the first minute of extra time.

The Uruguay international, who had just one goal in his last 12 appearances before scoring against Brentford, then netted Liverpool’s second of the game two minutes later. The win puts Liverpool seven points clear of second-placed Arsenal, who are playing Aston Villa in Saturday’s 5.30pm kick-off.

And Frank, whose Brentford side were beaten at home by Arsenal earlier this month before their 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Tuesday night, feels Liverpool are a level above their title rivals. ‘I think overall a good performance against a fantastically good team that I think is the best team in the Premier League,’ Frank said after Brentford’s defeat to Liverpool.

‘Of course, they are number one, so I don’t think that’s a surprise to anyone, but probably also the best team in the world. ‘We just played against City and Arsenal and now Liverpool in short succession, I think they are a level above the two others right now, more complete in all phases on the game, yeah… very good, exceptionally good.’.
