Tiger Woods and his son Charlie are on the brink of winning their first ever title together, with the pair leading the PNC Championship with 18 holes left to play. The father-son duo are tied at the top with Team Langer and Team Singh, after a stellar 13-under-par 59 at Florida's Ritz Carlton Golf Club in round one. Team Woods went bogey-free and made 13 birdies, putting them in a prime position to clinch the championship on Sunday.
They are not not alone at the top though, as both Team Langer and Team Singh also kept a bogey off their card, each making an eagle and 11 birdies on Saturday. All eyes were on Tiger and Charlie on day one, and this is only set to increase on Sunday as they vie for the title. This marks the fifth consecutive PNC Championship for Team Woods, and playing alongside his son is clearly significant for Woods, who referred to the 36-hole tournament as his 'fifth major' at this summer's Open Championship.
They still have work to do if they want to secure victory on Sunday though, and Tiger is fully aware of the challenge ahead, stating after his round: "We're right there. There's a bunch of teams that are up there. We're going to have to shoot another ground tomorrow.
"And you know, make a bunch of birdies and hopefully we can do that and get off to a good start, and then develop it into the back nine. When asked if the event reignited his competitive spirit, Tiger simply replied: "It is always there," a sentiment echoed by his teenage son.
