Tiger Woods and his budding 15-year-old golfer son Charlie nearly clinched the title at the PNC Championship in Orlando, losing in a playoff to Team Langer. Tiger, though, reflected on their near miss with a positive spirit. Charlie made waves by nailing an eagle on the third hole, followed by an astonishing first-ever hole-in-one on the 175-yard fourth. Tiger, 48, when asked about his feelings as a dad witnessing such moments, said: "It's one of the highlights that we've ever had. We were talking about earlier, he made his first eagle. Now he just made his first hole-in-one. It's a magical two-hole stretch.

"I'm just so happy for him. It was a lot of fun. It was back-and-forth, no one made a mistake today." Charlie shared his father's enthusiasm, saying: "It was awesome. No one made a mistake today, and on top of that, I made an ace. I don't think I can top that.".

Both teams finished Sunday tied at 15-under, leading to a nail-biting playoff, which resulted in Bernhard Langer securing his sixth win at this event. This year marked Langer's fourth win alongside his son Jason, after attaining two previous victories with his other son, Stefan, reports the Mirror US.

Langer has also competed with his daughter Christina in what once was known as the Father/Son Challenge. Woods showed resilience, walking all 54 holes without any sign of strain from his ankle injuries, which had been a concern earlier in 2023 owing to the harrowing car crash he suffered in 2021.

In September 2024, he underwent microdecompression surgery on his lower back. Before the 2024 PNC Championships, Woods hadn't competed since the British Open in July. When asked how he felt he handled the "test" here this week, Woods was brutally honest. "Well, I'm nowhere near competitive shape. I'm a great scramble partner," he chuckled. "We made a great team this week and that's the whole joy of it, being out here with family.".
