In the first episode of the series on Wednesday night, fans learned that there were two Welsh contestants in the show – but there was a twist. Charlotte explained that having Elen as a fellow Welsh person was ‘a bit of a spanner in the works, because I’m not actaully from Wales.’.
‘I’m from London where I am born and bred. I’ve been putting on a Welsh accent because my mum’s from Wales. ‘It’s one of the most trustworth accents so in a game where we need people to trust each other, I need an accent that people can trust.’.
This plot twist delighted fans on social media, who were completely baffled by this choice. ‘Putting on a Welsh accent is the most extra and unnecessary thing ever #TheTraitors,’ said bdly25.
